	THE CAT AND THE OWL
By Lee & Maylee Her

There once lived a cat all by himself. The cat was very good at catching mice. He always had more than enough.
Far away, lived an owl that was very lazy. When the owl heard how well the cat could catch mice, she thought to herself, Would it be nice to have the cat as my partner? He can catch mice for me, and I will never go hungry.
Then one day, the owl went to the cat and asked the cat to marry her. The cat agreed, and they got married.
At first, the cat worked very hard catching mice everywhere. Life with the cat was good. All the owl did was sat and waited for the cat to bring her food. But day after day, the cat saw that the owl was very lazy, so he himself began to grow lazier and lazier. Until one day, the cat stopped catching mice altogether. Mice were running all around the house, even on the cat when he was sleeping. But the cat just lay there. He was so lazy to even get up. This made the owl very angry.
What should I do? the owl wondered. Maybe the sun can help me. He is very powerful. So the owl went to the sun.
Sun, you are very powerful. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The sun told the owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the cloud; the cloud can block my rays. The cloud is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the cloud.
Cloud, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The cloud told the owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the wind; the wind can blow me away. The wind is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the wind.
Wind, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than the cloud, which is more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The wind told owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the anthill; the anthill can withstand me. I can never blow it down. The anthill is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the anthill.
Anthill, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than the wind, which is more powerful than the cloud, which is more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The anthill told the owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the ox; the ox is able to knock me down with his strong horns. The ox is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the ox.
Ox, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than the anthill, which is more powerful than the wind, which is more powerful than the cloud, which is more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The ox told the owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the rope made of sisal; the rope made of sisal can tie me up, and with all my might, I can never break loose. The rope made of sisal is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the rope made of sisal.
Rope made of sisal, you are very powerful. You are more powerful than the ox, which is more powerful than the anthill, which is more powerful than the wind, which is more powerful than the cloud, which is more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The rope made of sisal told the owl, It is not I that you should ask. It is the mouse; the mouse can cut me with his sharp teeth. The mouse is more powerful than I.
So the owl went to the mouse.
Mouse you are more powerful than the rope made of sisal, which is more powerful than the ox, which is more powerful than the anthill, which is more powerful than the wind, which is more powerful than the cloud, which is more powerful than the sun. Can you please go tell the cat to start catching mice again?
The mouse looked at the owl sadly and said, Sorry, but I cannot help you. The cat is more powerful than I. The cat can catch me and eat me up. It is he that you should ask him yourself.
So the owl went sadly back to the cat and that was the end of that.
