This is a story about Sammy T.S. Frog. The T.S. stood for The Smallest . Sammy was the smallest frog that lived on a lily pad, in the shade of a big willow tree. He lived there with a lot of other frogs in The Big Pond:. The lily pad was crowded and loud, especially when all the other frogs wanted to be heard. Sammy dreamed every day about living on the other side of The Big Pond, where his friend Bonnie Bluebird lived. And every day Bonnie would tell Sammy how warm the sun was on the other side, that it was not crowded or as loud! Sammy became determined to make it to the other side! The other frogs would laugh at Sammy and tell him that he would never make it to the other side of The Big Pond. Because you see under the crowded lily pad lived Corky the Catfish, who just swam around every day waiting for a frog to fall off that lily pad, then he would gobble it up! But Sammy was determined! So every day as Sammy did his chores, he would think of ways to get off that lily pad and get to the other side of The Big Pond. Then one day it came to him. Sammy laughed to himself, the answer had been there all along! Next to the crowded, noisy lily pad were smaller lily pads just perfect for a small frog to use as a boat! Sammy was determined! Sammy had many friends and one of those was Terry Turtle. He had been telling Terry about the nice warm sun and the quiet on the other side of The Big

Pond. Oh yes! It is wonderful on the other side! , Terry said.
Can I help you with your journey? asked Terry. Sammy thought and thought. I don't know how I'm going to make my lily pad boat move. Sammy said sadly. I can help with that! said Terry. Sammy was determined! So the next morning before any of the other frogs woke up, Sammy packed a few flies in a bag and set out on his journey. He hopped over to one of the small lily pads and waited. Soon Terry Turtle showed up with a reed in his mouth. He put it up on the lily pad and told Sammy, You can use this to row your boat. Sammy was excited and determined! As Sammy started rowing his lily pad boat, he started croaking happily. Then, all of a sudden, it started to rain! Sammy rowed harder and faster, but then it happened..his reed broke! Oh, no!! Now what? cried Sammy. But he was still determined. After the rain stopped, Terry Turtle had had crawled up on a log to get warm, when he saw Sammy wasn't going any where. He swam out to Sammy. What's wrong? asked Terry. My reed broke. said Sammy sadly. I can fix that! said Terry and he swam off. Soon he was back with another reed in his mouth and he put up on Sammy's lily pad. There you go! smiled Terry. Sammy was determined. Sammy started rowing again, soon he was on the bank of the other side of The Big Pond. As he hopped off his lily pad boat and onto the

grass, Bonnie Bluebird flew down and greeted him. Sammy smiled at Bonnie, You were right! It is warm and I am the only frog
here! he sang, as he hopped around dancing. And it is so quiet! Sammy laid down in the grass with his arms behind his head and took a deep breath. Bonnie looked at him and said, You made it because you were determined! Sammy smiled& & & yes he was!!
