Reading is a timeless art capable of transforming an individual’s life, even an entire society. The habit of reading, when nurtured from childhood moulds and enriches growing minds, shapes their nascent values and develops in them diverse perspectives. Therefore, fostering the ability and desire to read among our students is vital as a fundamental life-skill. In addition, it is the mandate of the National Curriculum Framework 2005’s mandate to provide opportunities for individualized reading at all stages  through teachers, community and school libraries.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has therefore joined hands with the Publishers Action Group-PAG-E, a group of mostly non-profit publishers of children’s books and deeply committed to high quality and ethics in all Indian languages. Each year, they put together a list of new books in English and Hindi for classes I to XII to assist CBSE schools in this endeavour.

In this list for the year 2012-2013, -- of Eklavya’s books have been featured. They include a range of books that feature fiction, folktales, activity books, books on topics related to the curriculum as well as on other general topics.
