Position: Fellow

About Srote Features:
Srote Features is a weekly feature service on topics in science and technology for newspapers and magazines. It is managed by the non-government organization Eklavya. Since its inception in November 1989, it has consistently provided good-quality, authentic material to Hindi newspapers every week in a language that is easily understood by the general reader. The weekly features are later compiled into a monthly magazine. To know more please visit Srote features.
Must-haves:
- Willingness to read and write articles on popular science and scientific research
- Spoken and written fluency in Hindi (The same is desirable in English)
- Openness to learning new skills (both creative and administrative) within the publishing field
Desirable:
- A graduate degree in any discipline of science
Key responsibilities:
- Writing snippets/articles for weekly dispatch
- Proofreading, copy-editing, and ensuring compliance with the stylesheet
- Converting weekly files from Indesign to word
- Dispatching weekly content via email to newspapers
- Updating and maintaining newspaper email databases
- Translating article from English to Hindi
- Assisting in translation related work
- Assisting with administrative tasks such as coordination with authors, translators and payment follow-ups
- Ideating and assisting with social media strategies for content promotion
- Any other institutional responsibility as required
Stipend: ₹10,000 – ₹12,000 per month
