About Baal Sahitya:
While it all began quietly and humbly in the form of a few reports and booklets that emerged out of our field work and interaction with children and teachers, it was quickly realized that publishing quality material could be a vital supplement and valuable addition on the way to the goals that we were out to pursue. Bit by bit the caravan of books grew to include educational classics, educational modules for teachers and children, picture books, material for young readers and beginners, activity books, fiction and non-fiction, books on various social issues and so on.
Baal Sahitya team produces a wide range of reading materials — including picture books, poems, young adult literature, activity books in Hindi and English.

Must-haves:
- Passion for reading and writing children’s literature
- Spoken and written fluency in Hindi (The same is desirable in English)
- Openness to learning new skills ̶ both creative and administrative ̶ within the publishing field
Desirable:
- A graduate degree in any discipline
- At least one year of experience in publishing and/or children’s literature.
Key responsibilities:
- Regularly checking the official publications email ID and corresponding with authors
- Assisting in selecting and keeping track of the manuscripts
- Assisting in communicating with authors/external editors and coordinating with the design and production teams
- Proofreading, ensuring compliance with the stylesheet, and copy-editing (including checking designed files and tallying the press-ready files)
- Administrative tasks such as coordinating agreements with authors, editors, translators, etc; following up on payments, generating ISBN; providing and updating metadata of ongoing titles, royalty-related work
- Preparing and sending out newsletters/emailers, and periodically writing promotional content for upcoming titles (e.g., posters, social media posts).
- Contributing to social media strategy for creative promotion and engagement of published content
Salary: ₹22,000 – ₹25,000 per month*
