About Eklavya Foundation
Eklavya Foundation is a registered non-profit NGO based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh (India) and has been active in the field of education and publishing since 1982. One of its thrust areas is on-field, collaborative engagement with government structures, teachers and communities, for an inclusive, participatory, meaningful and culturally responsive education grounded in critical, inquiry-based, experiential learning. Currently, Eklavya has a strong on-ground presence in select districts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Bihar, and outreach to organizations and locations across India through the professional support initiative and publications.
Eklavya’s work in Publishing
Eklavya has published over 800 titles for children and educators in over 15 scheduled and non-scheduled Indian languages. Eklavya’s publishing and dissemination efforts, guided by its school and community-based programmes, have reached millions of readers across the country. The focus of publishing has been to produce books that reflect the life and environment of young readers, especially those from the marginalized and underrepresented communities, while keeping the language accessible, and price affordable.
Role: Program Associate / Program Assistant
Location: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh (on site)

Key Responsibilities
- Competence in working within a diverse team on multipartner publishing projects.
- Strong interest in Children’s Literature and Indian Language publishing
- Basic understanding of the Children's publication landscape in Indian Languages
- Strong editing skills in English.
- Editing in any of the following Indian languages would be an added advantage: Marathi, Assamese, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Bangla.
- Liaison with author/illustrators, external experts and internal team members towards book development and publication.
- Work closely with partner organizations/publishers towards creating quality books.
- Anchor creation of contracts and agreements with content creators and other publishers.
- Support in identification of content partner organizations in different geographies.
- Assist in conceptualizing training programs, workshops and courses for writers, translators and publishers.
- Support in online promotion and campaigns.
- Support on-ground dissemination activities in book fairs, school fairs, literature festivals and other events across various venues in the country.
- Assistant Project Associate is expected to conceptualise and plan independently, in consultation with the team.
Skills Required
- Keen interest and appreciation for children’s literature in Indian Languages.
- Passion and love for languages.
- Self-starter and the ability to take ownership of work assigned.
- Ability to work with diverse teams across locations.
- Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Expertise in working with Word, Excel, Google Drive and Canva.
- Experience of working with children directly in libraries or any other reading promotion program will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel.
- Openness to work with a multi-locations team.
- In addition to English and Hindi, proficiency in any of the following languages will be an added advantage—Marathi, Assamese, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Bangla.
Eligibility
- Experience of working with editorial, design & production teams and/or working with
children in language literacy- 1 year for Program Assistant
- 3 years for Program Associate
- Degree in Literature, Education or completed courses on language and literacy pedagogy preferred.
- Exposure to children’s literature or keen interest in literature and languages.
Remuneration
Program Assistant: INR 28,000 per month- 32,000 per month
Program Associate: INR 32,000 per month- 36,000 per month
